There is so much variation in this breed. Maybe it's just me but I have seen more size variation in this breed than almost any other. I think maybe it's because yorkies in the 19th century were originally bigger, well over 10 pounds, then the AKC made the standard at 7 pounds in the late 1800's, but now with the "teacup" craze, they are being bred smaller and smaller. So...as genetics go, you will get bigger yorkies in the mix.
Personally, I love yorkies at ALL sizes! I have four yorkies and they range from 4 pounds all the way to 15-plus pounds! My 15 pounder came from parents that were both under 10 pounds.
Your guy is adorable and I think he looks well proportioned.
