For some reason, the vet left one of Jig's teeth after extracting the rest of the baby teeth. I think he felt it would come out on it's own. The darn thing just wouldn't come out. It was loose and it really looked nasty.

Faint at heart beware: I gave him 2mg of benedryl to keep him calm (recommended by the vet), numbed the area with one of those topical toothache gels put on a q-tip (also O.K.'d with the vet) and used a hemostat (kind of a locking tweezer) to pull the tooth myself. It was very loose and gave way as easily as one of my children's teeth that was stubborn and wouldn't come out on it's own. Jig tolerated it well and didn't bleed but a drop. I'm a nurse felt comfortable doing this. I didn't want to have to put him under again for one tooth. He even ate better after having that tooth out. It must have been bothering him.

I'd say if you're husband is a dentist he should be able to help.
