Both of mine are licensed yearly (12.00 for neutered or spayed so you catch a break there) and we just got notice. You have to provide proof of current rabies vaccine to get your tags.
Before bubba and sissy we had a bichon that got out when the meter reader left the gate open (needless to stay the gate has been padlocked ever since). Anyhow we searched for him for hours and couldn't find him. We had called the police and reported him missing. When we finally got home there was a message on our answering machine from the police and the man in the liquor store two blocks down saying they had found him and were keeping him in the store over night because they had to close. He gave him crackers and water. We picked him up the next morning. I don't know if it was the id tag or the license but we got him home. My husband joked that he had a drinking problem and just went to the liquor store to store up.
