Coconut oil melts very easily. By the time you put it in your hand, it will already have melted just from your body heat. When I use it, I just rub it between my palms and apply it to wherever it is needed. I'd be careful about putting it on the coat...a small amount goes a loooong way and the coat can get greasy/stringy looking quickly. Coconut oil is good stuff!
