Yesterday I took Nikko to get his face and nails trimmed. The groomer said I didn't need an appointment since this can be done rather quickly and she actually invited me to stay while she worked on him. I wish you guys could see this lady. She has tattoos up and down her arms and at first glance is rather intimidating but what a nice lady!! She has 3 dogs of her own and one is a yorkie too.

We got to talking as she worked on my little one and I was so impressed. She cooed at Nikko and had him pretty calm as she clipped his bangs with a sharp scissor. I was amazed at her skills and how still my chronic squirmer stayed while she did his face. When she started on his nails he became the usual bucking bronco and gave her a gash on her hand that actually bled a bit.

She was unfazed and as I apologized to her she reassured me it was an "occupational hazard" and told me not to worry. After watching her, I have a new appreciation for groomers and how hard they work. Dealing with so many dogs and all their different personalities is NOT easy. They get bitten, scratched and barked at (sometimes from the dog owners themselves) on a daily basis. Granted there are a few that need some obedience training themselves (judging by some of the horror stories on here) but for the most part I commend them. They keep our babies neat and pretty and it it wasn't for them, I would never get to see how beautiful my Nikko's eyes really are
