I hope everyone who had problems with the ice has gotten home and now have electricity.
We have had terrible ice storms in NYS. Yes, ice is a huge danger to everyone. The central part of NYS was without electricity for weeks a few years ago after a bad ice storm. People with no alternate heating sources had terrible problems. That is why we much prefer a foot of snow to any amount of ice. Roofs can be shoveled off but with ice all you can do is wait for a thaw. With electric lines and trees down things pretty much come to a stand still. Roads can have black ice which is basically invisible and it causes terrible accidents.
Thankfully this storm missed us but winter hasn't even started yet so we have a lot of weather ahead. |
