Yes this is what we used in school to learn how grading is done. You have to know how it works before they teach you how to use the computer program. Yo can't just use a copy machine to grade up. Some parts don't grade up in the same scale as others, for ex neckline and waistline.

Eta also you can't grade up a yorkie pattern to a Great Dane pattern. That's like grading a petites dress to a plus size. Each sizing category you start w the medium and grade up or down to get your other sizes. You r better off draping a pattern from scratch or buying a large breed pattern and go off that.

Not saying it can't be done the way you are trying but it won't be an accurate fit.
