Be very careful using flea/tick shampoo on a young pup. Read warnings. It really doesn't work all that well anyway. Depending on the age and weight of your pup, you are limited on which prevention meds you can use too. Ask a vet to be sure.

I would suggest a bath with lots of shampoo or Dawn dish soap (often recommended for fleas), then rinse very well. It won't repel attached ticks, but will give you a good chance to spot them and remove them.

Be sure to look in between the pads on the feet, and around ears. Try to limit places the pup lays until you get it under control, as ticks drop off in carpet and can lay eggs and multiply quickly.
