Wednesday we had to put my girlfriend's Westie down. She had him for 13 years and he was the coolest dog in the world, he even ran for mayor of our town. Hit me much harder than I thought it would, and she is devastated. No Thanksgiving for us.
Anyway, I was wondering if this is a common story. Our vet has a good reputation for doing this and came over the house. Due to a misunderstanding we thought the whole thing was taking place in the home, but he only gave Miles a strong sedative. We were supposed to bring Miles to the office later and let him finish. Obviously we kept waiting and waiting and waiting and finally called the office and were told to bring him in. This just made a difficult situation even more difficult.
Is this a common procedure for a home euthanasia?
Miles was having so many problems he's in a better place now. Ruger, my Yorkie, is doing fine but realizes something is wrong, especially when I take him to my girlfriends. I may have to leave him at home now as I don't think my girlfriend appreciates a four-year-old Yorkie running around the house after what happened. I didn't know whether it would help or hurt.
Aside from my problems I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving. Well get over this and I'm hoping Ruger will have a new playmate soon.
