So, I have been trying to grow out my little guys hair. Its very thin and fine and it can hold a lot of static after he's worn clothes so it fuzzes out everywhere
A week ago, I had to re-trim around his bun hole because it had grown out and he got poo stuck to it. I trimmed a little wider than his tail, and the hair under his tail in hopes that it would be fine.
Last night...the new poop patch failed big time. I had taken Ricky out of his clothes and brushed his hair and he was clean and fine. Shortly after, he was in his new dog house cleaning himself when I found a piece of poo on the floor. So...I go look at him in his house and his bottom and his little blanket was a mess. He had poop everywhere and his butt was soaking wet from the poor little guy trying to lick it off

....it was so bad that at 1 am, I had to give him a butt bath and blow dry.
So...my question is...what am I doing wrong?? It's getting into the long hair that's hanging down from his legs. I think it's because it's hanging down as he squats in the sit position. If I shave much more off back there, he's going to look like he's got a baboon butt...
So for those that keep your pups in longer coats...how do you prevent that from happening???
