What a shame! I thought some of the places around here were bad! They don't let dogs go for $125 or a bag of food though! The shelters around here that are affilliated with the Humane Society are high kill shelters. They will only keep animals for 7 days at the most when they are at capacity.

Several people who helped run one of the humane society shelters near here broke off from that one several years ago and started a no kill shelter. It's much nicer and they do their very best to find homes for the animals but they do reach capacity and have to turn animals away when they run out of room. It such a sad business.

I would adopt that guy out of there. It does not sound like they are very particular about who they let have their animals. If you could get him out of their hands then you probably could work with a Yorkie or small dog rescue in finding a really good home for him. At the very least you could make sure he is neutered and healthy and them find a really good home for him yourself.
