Default Humane Society~A high kill shelter?!?

Are all humane societies considered high kill shelters?? Or does it depend on which one it is?? Do they all have the same policies for the length of time they keep a dog?? I've heard they have a month at the one in Detroit.

The reason I am asking is because I found a yorkie today in a humane society about an hour away...4 years old...very cute!!

They are asking for $125 for him OR you can give them a large bag of purina cat or kitten chow or a box of cat litter.

I can't be his furever home, but I am willing to foster him until he does find his furever home...and at that price, I am willing to go pull him out of there if he is at risk of being put down.

If I got him out of there, what do you think the chances are of a rescue working with me to place the little guy. I can foster him. I just can't keep him forever. OR...do you think it's better I leave him in there so he can find his furever home?!?

There are SOOOO MANY Yorkies here in Michigan. I wish we could ship them to other areas where there's hardly any available on petfinder!!
