Rocco was around 6-7 months old when he started barking and whining at night too. I'm not even gonna lie to you - he wanted out of the crate. He was just done with it, cold turkey. My dh let him sleep in our room NEXT to our bed (not in it) and he has slept peacefully every night since (he's almost 4 years old).
