They've gotta at least act like they love little dogs, or they aren't going to treat mine. But I have to keep in mind that their competency is important too, since I don't have a lot of choices.

Good luck with Cassie's "physical therapy". She has been through so much, and wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for your love and care.
You are so right again!!!!!!! Sweet and tender is a MUST--- despite their competence, in my book! Obviously competence is so basic, it goes without saying, but sweet and tender can affect the health of our babies just as much as competence, their will to go on and fight, their immune system and other intangibles. Yes you are so very right. And it is as essential to my being and my baby's health as any other factor in choosing who the person is that you trust with your baby's life. If they treat your baby like a piece of wood, your baby may just leave their office IN a piece of wood. At least this is my philosophy. As a therapist and social worker, I have seen instances every day that proved this to be true with humans. If the doctors wrote off their patients because they were old or sick, presented with a cold and distant affect, and expected that they would die, most patients tried to accommodate the doctors and meet their expectations. And where the reverse was true, patients also tried to meet THEIR expectations as well, and patients survived when there was little evidence that this was possible. I know that there have been studies showing this to be valid, but I forget what they are. All I know is, the same holds true with animals.
