My pets have always gotten along (dogs and cats). I'll have to admit that it sometimes took a week or two for them to decide to become friends - but
it never failed.

Your friend just may have a dog or dogs that will never accept or become friends with another dog.

Forcing a friendship or even tolerance may not be possible -- even with a lot of advise and work.

My neighbor had to give up a little kitten because her other cat just wouldn't accept it. She worked with her two cats for almost six months, and in the end, just couldn't subject the younger kitten to the older cat's behavior any longer. She felt it just wasn't fair to the cute little guy. So, he went to a new home and is a happy, wonderful, spoiled little pet now.

Sometimes neutering helps -- but often it won't affect a relationship that has already been established.

I'm afraid your friend may have to consider finding a new home for her one little pup. He deserves to live a life free from fear and being tormented. And, it obviously isn't a happy situation for her other dog either....or her either, for that matter. Having several pets is great - but they have to get along and be happy.
