Remember to change the food gradually. Just outright switching it will cause more trouble. Start mixing it in a little at a time and increase the portion of new food slowly. Maggie was on Royal Canin puppy when we got her at 12 weeks. She didn't love it so we got Royal Canin YORKIE puppy, different formula. She liked it. At one year old she switched to RC adult yorkie food. Her stools have been "Normal" except for the occasional one. She is 3 1/2 now and has never had an anal gland problem. I think they need firm stools to keep the glands naturally "expressed". I am no expert though, I'm sure the experienced owners will correct me if I'm wrong.
