Loose stools are never normal, and I would be concerned about a vet who dismisses them like it is not a problem. Loose stools can cause dehydration and other problems.

Is Science Diet kibble the only thing he eats? Or does he get treats too?

Eating too much or eating the wrong thing can cause loose stools too. For instance, when Max was a pup, a tiny bit of peanut butter made him have a loose stool.

With a puppy, my primary concerns would be coccidia and giardia:
