I am happy we did it. The last week before the surgery, she seemed more and more in pain. She was definitely in pain when I took her home, I probably saw the worst of it since the vet let me take her home that night. He knows the orthopedic surgeon I work with and I guess he figured she would be well cared for.
She managed to be quite crafty in spite of her e-collar, so I had to wrap her up with some coband bandage to keep her out of her sutures. She also had a full-time attendant sleeping next to her the first night. Me in a sleeping bag.
Rubi, is starting to be like her old Yorkie self now. She and I set up a pillow strategy for her to get on and off the couch, lol. I accidentally put some pillows there so I could be on the floor with her and the next thing I know she is using them as a ladder.
I am glad we did the surgery. She now has sutures out and e-collar off. She still has a shaved butt, but she gets a little better every day. Thank G-d, I was so worried.
How is she doing now? Just found out that my 11 mo. old has Perthes in both hips. Just had her spayed and baby teeth extracted this past Friday. Had X-rays done and my vet providing referral to orthopedic surgeon. I am freaking out! Looking at having it done a.s.a.p. but not too soon after spay.
