Hi and Welcome to YT! I'd wait to spay till 8-12 months old, and check for growth plate closure by Xray. JMHO.

If this was bloody diarrhea, it may have been HGE (Hemorrhagic Gastro-Enteritis). So very sorry for your loss. Welcome to YT...
