One comment though just because you've brought it up. If he's related to the black dog - that's not a maltese mix. That is a mix of something else. Maybe miniature schnauzer or poodle? Not sure, but maltese are white... so something's not adding up there.

That black pup looks exactly like my teddy as a puppy, maltese dogs breed with yorkies will produce black, parti, and tan/gray (yorkie colored) pups.
Here is teddy (3/4 yorkie & 1/4 maltese) as a puppy (morkie mom & yorkie dad)
