I'm sure there are lots of ways to get a friendly dog to go with a thief. I think the article I read was generalized. Knowing a dog's name does help to befriend it and perhaps get it to be more friendly to a new family. Knowing the dog's name can also help a thief befriend a dog that was supposed to be guarding the house when they broke in. Most of our larger dogs would have given the whole house away if the thief knew their name or not.

It is quite easy to read Gracie's tag with the phone numbers on it. I would rather have two important phone numbers on it than her name and just one phone number.
