Hey don't beat yourself up. There are plenty of moms of human kids who have resorted to the same thing when their kids would not sleep. Some people just get high and mighty on here sometimes but just try and ignore those who may not be very good at tempering their words.
I think most dogs will adapt to situations as they change. It may take a while but eventually your pup will realize you cant be her playmate all the time. Your doing the best you can and sounds to me like your baby has a loving home that most dogs would love to have..
