Yes, the bristles of a brush remove the film, build-up that rinses won't and get below the gumline when you carefully brush there. A brush massages the gumline and encourages circulation in the gum. I've seen very ill people who could only rinse their mouths with the special dental rinses to destroy bacteria in ICU come out with awful teeth, dark, dingy with build-up along the sides of each tooth! Gross-looking. Only the bristles of a brush will take of some kinds of build-up off teeth in humans and until I read differently, suspect it's the same with dogs.
