Scooting is also a sign of anal gland impaction. I am a groomer and we check glands when we groom a dog. Becareful if you apply to much pressure which I've seen inexperienced groomers do, they can rupture. And anal glands that need attention and don't get it, can abcess. But like other YT members have said if your dog has a nice firm stool they should express naturally. But if you don't want to try this lovely thing lol, leave it to the professionals.
