Update: Path report Very happy to say I got a call from the surgeon this morning, and the path report came back as "gingival hyperplasia"(overgrowth of gum tissue), specific to lymphoplasmacytic gingivostomatitis. Good news considering the alternatives. But I asked her about the cause, since he didn't have gingivitis or much plaque on his teeth at all. She said that some dogs' immune systems overreact to an irritation or pocket and then the gingival overgrowth is the result. She was pretty confident that it would not come back, given the single growth and location on his front teeth. I just need to check his mouth regularly to be sure there is no recurrence. Thank you all so much for your prayers and kind concern for Rocco!
