I am so sorry for you loss, I know how bad you are both feeling.
Not that's it's a good thing but don't beat yourself up, because more pet owners drive with their pets loose than in their car than with a car seat. I am not that happy with my car seat so often Lola travels in the back seat in a bed with sides. To me this accident seems to have more to do with the windows being down while in the car with a pet. If the window was not rolled down the dog could not have gotten tossed out regardless if he was in a pet carrier or not.
Unfortunately I often see dogs riding along with no restraint and their head is sticking out of the window, normally large dogs, but still it always makes me shudder.
Thank you that even in your pain you are giving us all a wake up call or reinforcing things that we know but don't always practice. Perhaps it will be Coco's legacy to help prevent this from happening to other pets. RIP little Coco you may not have been with us long enough but you will never be forgotten. |
