This is her second bout and she seems to improve on some days but has set backs on other days. If she does not improve the vet recommended doing a scope of her gut. Has anyone else gone through this? Does anyone know if there's a vet that specializes in yorkies in the Denver area? Thanks a lot for the responses.
There is a simple, non-invasive blood test that can rule pancreatitis in or out, called the cPL. You want the test that is actually sent out to IDEXX, not the one called the "snap" test that your vet does in his office. Your vet can request the results from IDEXX overnight and you'll have your answer in 12 to 24 hours. Pancreatitis is nothing to fool around with and there are specific protocols to follow for treatment and after care if that is what you are dealing with. Also, if your baby does have pancreatitis, you will have to be very careful to watch her diet from now on, because once they do have it they are much more susceptible to getting it again. My little guy had a positive cPL in June, and it was more than a month before he was completely recovered and back to his normal little self. He must now follow a very strict low fat diet, and even a little too much fat upsets his tummy.

If you are able to rule out pancreatitis with the cPL test, then you'll know to investigate further to find the cause of the blood in the vomit and stool.

I hope your baby is already feeling better.
