Yes, a warm rinse with water and follow up shampoo and conditioner just on his bottom in your kitchen sink is pretty much your only option. It will loosen the stool enough for you to get his bottom cleaned up. Not necessary for a full bath unless you want too.

Don't beat yourself up about it , it happens to all of our pups at some time or another. After you get him cleaned up check his bottom for swelling and if he is swollen or red and irritated put some A&D ointment on him rump.
