Default Grooming tips

My Xena is a year old now. She is my wild pup. She is always full of energy and not afraid of anything. When she was much younger I had trouble keeping her still for grooming. I found in order to keep her still long enough to brush her I had to sit in the middle of her room and brush her in my lap while she chews on a raw hide straw.

The problem with this method is that I can't really get to the hair under her stomach and she does not like me brushing the hair on her head, which so happens to be the part that tangles the worst. Once I get to the head she's done she wants to get up.

I''ve tried moving her to a table top to try grooming her standing but I have found that in order to keep her from running off the table I have to hold the raw hide straw in one hand while brushing her with the other.

I try to brush her about 3 times a week. I want it to become a daily thing. Do you have any tips on how I can get her to actually stand while i brush her and allow me to brush the hairs on her head? Do any of you have ideas on how i can make daily grooming a more calming experience for her?
