I just learnt that from other puppy owners. We initiate going outside at first, every time we go, we grab his paw to hit the bell ( or nose it) and we say "outside". When he pees outside, we say 'go potty' and give a treat when he finishes and another one when he gets home. After about one week, Simba kind of got the idea, bell=outside, but outside=potty is not always true
outside=play happens more often
, but it took about a month before I started to trust him.
Now, Simba would sit by the door, if we don't take him outside right away or we didn't see him, he would then ring the bell.
