Sore paw or luxating patella? Or...? Hi all! Inexperienced poster here... My sweet little lilah is almost nine months old and has never shown any signs of lameness or any other ill thrift. We live in the country and lilah is primarily an indoor dog. Today however, the kids and I took a picnic in a shady forested area with our sheep and we brought lilah along. Everything seemed to be going fine, she barked at a few sheep and my young middle schooler scooped her up a few times (mature responsible daughter for the most part) and after a while I asked her to walk lilah up to the house and put her in her x pen. I hiked up the hill within ten minutes and walked inside, lilah ran up to join me happy as a clam but holding up her front right leg. I was horrified, I examined the leg and joints for swelling or apperant injury and saw nothing. I do not see anything in the paw either. I even bathed her to make sure I saw everything. I see nothing. I will watch for swelling, heat, redness or notable pain and take her to the vet first thing in the morning if she is still favoring it or if any additional signs/symptoms come up. She is not thrilled when I am messing with he leg but seems her normal self otherwise. Foot injury or the beginning of a lifetime with knee problems?
