Hey folks, I'm not on to read the critics, but, to simply give an update to the ones who care...
Shy has been to the vet twice since I posted last. Her first visit was meant to get xrays, but, it turned out to be too soon. We got her some more blood work and it came back healthy. After another week and a half or so, we went back in at day 45 (two days ago) and poised the question to her vet again, "do you really think she's healthy enough to have the pups? Should we terminate and have her spayed?" She told me she is a healthy 6lbs and she has no reason as to why she shouldn't have them. She made me reminded me that smaller breeds tend to need cesareans, especially if there is not many pups and that Shy could be in the same boat. THEN she asked me what I wanted to do. I told her that I wanted her to be healthy, no matter what. Even if she thought we should terminate. I was told she should be fine and we took measures to make sure her cesarean (if needed) could be setup in a hurry as well as her spay after she delivers. We setup the "worst case scenario" prices and made arrangements accordingly. I have her an appointment this Sunday, for an xray, to find out how many she'll have. We've also made sure to get ready for her pups to be put on a wellness plan with spay/neuter.
Well, there you have it. She's doing well, giving lots of puppy kisses, still has some energy and takes the stairs with me to use the restroom (though I go slow and we take the elevator up instead of her climbing 3 flights). Mornings and returning from work are happy to see me. We also have a friend staying with us that will help if needed. I've put in for some leave during a couple weeks during/after her due date.
Hope all of your pups are doing well.
