Dogs don't have the same "perception" of odors as do we.
Acts of assimilating available odors, is their attempt to "blend" into the environment. Better equipped to hide and pounce when well scented.
Something that is a natural instinct for them.
Frequently, we exacerbate that, when we bathe them with scented materials.
