I should do it their way because they are right and I don't care enough about my dogs to get them proper treatment. I am very thankful to say that Libby is still alive and doing very well. Another of my dogs was recently diagnosed with a serious illness. Did I come here and do a thread for support? Are you kidding me? I already have enough stress and worry in my life than to ask for more, which is what I would be doing had I started a thread. I know there are a lot of caring people here and I appreciate the prayers and friendship, but I don't have thick enough skin to handle the other BS. |
Connie - I am so sorry that things went this way for you bc I don't believe this section should result in something like this...very sorry you had to go through not only dealing with a sick kiddo, but being badgered as well. Sadly, I've heard this more times than I wish. What is also upsetting is that it is TOTALLY and 100% unnecessary for people to communicate in such a way that people end up feeling pummeled. If someone/anyone doesn't know how to communicate without treating someone horribly, then they should not be posting. Period.

I posted a thread through the entire process. I was doing my best to help Taycie but had it not been for members here on YT and thick skin, and I am not sure Taycie would be here with me today. I was sucked in with my general vet believing she would help me figure it out when in reality I look back I should have left her care long ago. I remember posts, pm's, emails, questioning me, telling me, that I should be seeing a specialist and that Taycie was suffering and she needed a different level of care.
Not only was it an emotional rollercoster ride dealing with a very sick dog but had it not been for the few members that questioned what I was doing, I am not sure the outcome would be what it is today. Now a year later, Taycie is managed wonderfully. I also have become a better pet owner because of this experience. Yes, this requires thick skin. It wasn't easy going through something so traumatic and having YT members question my level of care. Did this make me feel awful. Of course. But, I decided I had a choice. I chose to listen to the ones on YT that have been through my similar experiences, and I am better for it. |
Thank you for such an honest account of how things went for you. I'm glad things turned out well and that the advice here did end up helping the outcome.

There are things on this thread that could have and should have gone much better (on all sides of things). Anyone who doesn't see that is in denial of what occurred. As human beings, we ALL make mistakes, make assumptions, say the wrong thing, do things in such a way that at any time - 10 other people would highly disagree with our choices. Rarely, if ever, is there an
absolute in terms of what is right or wrong. Rather, it's almost always subjective. Therefore, we should all be SO careful toward not coming off as if one
knows the absolute right thing to do or say in any situation.
Everyone is at a different place in life and everyone's situation and experiences are different. No one ever deserves to be put down for being where they're at...and sadly, we see that too often here at YT. No one is suggesting kid glove handling, but we seriously do need to try much harder at accepting the differences in people and even if we don't agree with them, to
still interact respectfully and in as a supportive way as possible. This forum is here to SUPPORT and HELP...it's not a place where we should be attacking members with sick dogs, denigrating them and their choices, or pitting others against each other. On the same note, when members post here with sick dogs - they should expect a variety of opinions and feelings and passion. They too need to try to be respectful of the replies
they requested -
it goes both ways here.
Call me a ridiculous optimist, but I firmly believe that we should always be striving to do better and be better - most especially when feelings clearly got/get heated.
