It sounds like you are doing a good job, you just need to watch him more. Whenever he goes to that door he should be let out to go potty, if he does he should be rewarded. That is the biggest thing in potty training is watching them.
Now if he stands at the door and nobody lets him out, and he pees somewhere he isn't suppose to.. you can’t discipline him for that. This is why watching him plays a big part in potty training.
I would just advise you to watch him more. Whoever lives in your household should play a part in this as well. You can look into bell training.. that is when you tie a bell on the door and he will paw at the bell to let you know he needs to go outside. I know a couple YT members have bell trained their dog and it works great for them. Willie is the perfect age to start that.
