Maybe he likes the taste of his shampoo/conditioner? Change it?
Many dogs will excessively lick a place on their body until it becomes a habit that then develops into a "hot spot" which must be treated. The best thing is to tell the dog "no" when you notice that he/she is doing this way too often.
At least this has worked for me with Pogo, who sometimes will worry a spot on the inside of his rear leg. He seems to take well to the "no" and quits licking.
Your vet may have a suggestion if the licking becomes obsessive. |
