Do lots of research on the Goldens. Hemangiosarcoma is very very prevalent in the breed. Currently underway is a 10,000 GR study to see if they can make some headway into understanding why. Also studies are showing particular for females the risk goes way up if they are spayed.
/there was an interesting article an interview of the UKC president, who referred to this breed as the Golden Tumor dog. His viewpoint is that 2 main stud dogs were essentially over used in the breeding programs, and both died young of cancer. Many many GR lines trace back to one of these two sires.
If I was better at searching where that link was I would try for you.
