While my dogs have never been attacked(thank goodness), we have had a lot of loose dogs approach us in off leash our neighborhood. One day some idiot was letting her 4 dogs out of her car...ranging in size from a boston terrier to a lab...and they rushed my two dogs. My SO freaked and was trying to pull Ricky away and had him hanging from his harness. I had picked Prince up(I always do when I see another dog) so I was able to pull the big dog away. The owner apologized and nothing happened...but it would be a little late for an apology if something happened to one of my dogs.
I would DEFINITELY report it to Animal Control. By law, people have to have their dogs under control or contained in their yard and that dog is going to end up hurting someone else...a child...another dog etc etc.
There is also pet mace at Petco. It's under $20.00. I haven't bought it yet, but I am highly considering it. I don't even feel comfortable walking my dogs in my neighborhood without my SO because of all of the loose dogs around. I would feel horrible macing another dog...but I would feel even worse if my dogs got hurt and I could have done something to stop it. |
oh wow, I didn't know there was any such thing as Pet Mace. I live in MA, and mace is illegal here, so I don't know if they can sell it around here, but I am going to check into it!! Especially now that it is getting dark earlier and I am walking her in the dark.
