I think it's more annoying that they think they are funny!! Or that they have to say it EVERY SINGLE TIME! Like, oh yeah, that wasn't funny their first hundred times I heard other people say that, but now that YOU'VE said it, OMG it's so clever!
I have had people do that and the "is the dog for sale" or "how much is the dog" line at the shop so many times. One time this guy would not let up. He kept going on, No really, how much for the dog? $1000? I'm serious, I wanna buy him. (HIM?!) So I had enough and I was like, Oh yeah that is SO funny, like I"ve never heard that joke before. He shut up after that, and his friends said "awkward!!"
