Casting these puppies sadly usually does not work. It CAN work, but normally does not. A board certified surgeon would be the best option for a correct treatment. I would hate to see him heal incorrectly and be crippled...or at the worse, end up losing a leg. Sadly, I have seen this happen. If I were you, I would be looking at selling something so that I had some money in case this splint/cast or whatever does not work. Of course, at that point, it might be more than your original estimate because he will probably need bone grafting.

Hopefully since you are a nurse you did go to a specialist, but given that it is a weekend, I doubt it.

I will pray for this yorkie. I don't know what else to say at this point.
