That's what I thought too. There were so many smells on the trail I wondered if that took her mind off of her leg hurting.
The second vet mentioned one of the possibilities of her skipping was that it was just a habit. I have no idea why she doesn't skip in grass. Hopefully I'll have some kind of answer tomorrow.
