Hi, just wondered if anyone has had a Yorkie with the same or similar problems as ours and maybe could help with what is causing it please.
Our Yorkie is seven and has been is excellent health up until two years ago...he isn't in bad health now but has a problem that has been re occurring over the last two years and I think it has stumped the vets.
Two years ago our Yorkie started with bouts of losing control of his bladder...it didn't happen often and it still doesn't.
He pees normally and then every once a month he will just stand there and floods of pee will come out.
Ok, so he's had frequent blood and urine tests that come back normal...kidneys excellent and nothing that shows up to be bad...he's had two ultra sounds scans and cells were taken from the neck of the bladder to rule out bladder cancer which came back negative and he's in excellent shape and hasn't lost any weight and urine taken directly from his bladder for culture testing which came back as infection found.
So the vets reckoned on Cystitis and treated with antibiotics...he's been on and off antibiotics ever since and on Cranimals powder...he's fed on Nature Diet dog food which is a wet food.
Now the problem seems to calm and then starts again.
His penis always looks red and sore so was given vasaline to put on it and it did help for a while.
I just wonder if anyone has had the same or similar with any of their dogs and could advise as to what maybe would help or what to do next.
Thanks x
