If it is going to be a tight squeeze NOW, remember, they are still growing for another 3-5 days! If it is already a tight squeeze, it will be tighter in another 4 days....I alswys err on the side of caution. I have a vet on call for my whelpings...it takes my vet and an anesthesiologist and me about 8 minutes to get to her office....I do not know what kind of emergent care you have access to.....I personally, prefer "controlled crashes" , and will schedule c-sections if my mommas life is even in question of being at risk during a whelping. You have to be aware of your particular situation, your vets qualifications and how much you trust him to pull your momma through an emergency. |
I get the feeling that the Vet I went to see isn't experienced with small dogs giving birth. How do you measure the puppies with calipers when they are in the mommy's tummy? Am I suppose to measure the x-ray? If u are measuring the X-ray, can you use a ruler instead of caliper? Do you measure the same with the pelvic ring? How much bigger can a puppy's head get within 4days? Also, does the Pelvic ring get bigger when the mommy dialate? Is so, about how much?
