Until Tatum was about a year old, I had absolutely no problem doing them myself. She was so cooperative. Then I don't know what happened - she didn't have a bad experience with me I know that - but now she won't let me do it at all. I might get one snuck in but after that she wiggles so much I'm afraid I'll hurt her. So now, it's the groomer's job. She doesn't go to the groomer all that often since I do ear and hiney trimming after baths so I think we might have to think about making little trips to the vet to have her nails done a little more often.
