Donna, not knowing the whole story, it sounded to me as if your call and mentioning the posts here might have facilitated the OP getting her dog back and I want to thank you for taking the time to do that. It's just unfortunate that this older lady seemed to be between a real rock and a hard place and then might - might have had to almost grovel for some reason and that seems wrong. I don't mind a rescue asking for a retraction but I do hope it wasn't conditional or the dog's return contingent upon it.

Hopefully, if I am totally misunderstanding the narrative, the rescue will forgive me for wondering if that were the case. When there aren't many facts, an older lady seems absolutely desperate for her dog that a rescue won't return, unflattering information is given out about her care of the dog and a personal habit brought into it, the rescue is told again of reactions here at some point and before or after that it all ends suddenly with a return of the dog w/a vet deal, followed by a terse leading statement laying out exactly what will be retracted and the OP comes on and makes carefully worded statements exactly along those lines, I, for one, was left wondering what did happened. Rescue mom said her piece after finding out what was being said here and I'm still confused but it seems to have worked out. I'm truly sorry if I completely misjudged either OP or rescue, but unless the dog were being neglected very badly in more ways than those mentioned, why not give it back or get Animal Control involved?

Anyway, thank you Donna for calling and I think helping getting the dog back to the lady. And thank you to the rescue for all the work you do to help dogs and people like the OP.

But anyway, such is the nature of YorkieTalk. We often don't have much to go on, usually believe credible-sounding members' desperate posts for help and err on their side much of the time until and if we hear another credible narrative laying out the other side or sides. All members are free to post their points of view on any subject here based on the knowledge we have at the time.
