I am so sorry for the loss of your husband.

It is such a shame that this pup is scared and unwilling to even play, it makes me sad. What puppy doesn't want to play and have fun. But I am sure that with some time and regular efforts from you that Binky will become the little companion pup he was intended to be. Treats are always a good way to win over a pups heart but I hear that cubed chicken or cooked carrots would work much better. You can reward him for any inkling of warmth, show of affection or any kind of interaction with you. Even if he sits close to you or allows you to get close to him. When he's not looking try leaving a trail of tiny treats leading to you sitting on the floor and see how he does. Im sure at this point your willing to try anything.
