There are reputable breeders on YT that I'm sure would help people find other reputable breeders in their area. The dog show world, like any other section of this world, has it's problems. There are bad apples where ever you go. But the ones that do it right are out there and when you learn what to look for it isn't hard to know a good one when you meet them.
An experienced, successful breeder of purebred dogs has a wealth of knowledge about the history of the line they are breeding, they understand the complicated genetics of purebred breeding. They do the testing necessary in order to avoid breeding a dog that may have a hidden genetic defect. Even with doing all the safe guards there can be occasional problems with a pup but it is far less likely than if you do the genetic roulette that a "hobby" breeder does. People are paying thousands of dollars for "teacup" puppies that were bred in a puppy mill or BYB when they could get a quality pup from a real professional breeder for $1200 to $1500. They have a solid health guarantee and a breeder that stands behind the sale. |
I agree wholeheartedly. You might as well buy a healthy well bred pup if you're going to pay that much.
