Horrors! This story made me pull my legs up onto the couch! I have never ever seen anything other than a grass snake in person or at the zoo years ago and those I didn't really even look at, just kept walking through the creepy building where they were so as not to totally give in to my fear. But once I was out of that place, I felt crawly all over and had to leave the zoo. I don't know what I would have done being that close to a nearly 20" long snake but it would probably have involved a lot of screaming and blind, wild running the other direction and not sleep for a while. And if the country has any more snakes than the city, and I suspect it does have lots more, I will never ever life there.
