Yikes---I'm so glad everyone's okay! Evidently there are lots of snakes & other wildlife in unusual places due to all the extra rain we are getting this year plus the construction of new homes, etc that are uprooting them.
We're about 10 miles from town, 15 miles from a national forest & near a golf course. All that to say that I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised the other day when Milo (my Yorkie) & I ran out on the deck to let the awning in b/c of an impending rainstorm, turned around & faced about a 3 ft long snake about 5 feet from us. He was looking at me & I certainly was looking at him. It scared me so bad that I screamed, scooped up Milo & froze. All I know is that he had a flat head & was patterned. Don't know if he was poisonous or not; tried to find a photo of him on the internet, but was unsuccessful. Thank the Lord that he slithered off the deck in the opposite direction. I must have a strong heart, otherwise I would have died right then & there! |
