I have two Yorkies... a healthy, strapping, 10# Yorkie, and a smaller, 6.5 pound very fragile Yorkie who has 75% collapsing trachea. When my mobile groomer moved from my area, I searched for a groomer that would let me bring the boys in and let me wait while they're groomed so they wouldn't have to stay all day.
Found one thru good references and took my sturdy guy in for grooming. He was cut kind of short, but it was acceptable, and I was grateful it took only an hour.
The next week I took in my little guy. He shakes and coughs when he's afraid, and I explained his condition. No problem. But when I returned in an hour, my little guy was completely bald, save for a topknot and a tail pompom. She said he was so upset over the grooming and any attempt to work out mats, she decided to shave him. His chest was cut clear down to the skin! He didn't even look like a dog! more like a monkey! I kept my composure as I picked him up, but once in the car, cried all the way home. I know it's just appearances, but he seemed embarrassed by his nakedness. He's ready for another grooming, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do. |
